Not bad for a supposedly quiet day. Blasted into campus, almost plowing the car into unsuspecting frosh who haven’t yet managed to master which roads are pedestrian-friendly. It probably didn’t help that I was blaring out Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades” the entire time as I screeched into the parking lot in front of work. Though I may bitch and moan about the pristine sanctity of my campus being desecrated by the chattering hordes of September frosh, it’s actually nice to see some life back on campus.
Crazy kids. I give ‘em two weeks, tops, before University crushes the color out of them.
Beyond mere work and school, I highly recommend seeing S1m0ne. It is Pygmalion re-writ (which is, after all, just another metaphor for parenthood, with the ennui-fraught theme that is the created eclipsing the creator), but Pacino is always entertaining, and the more I see of Catherine Keener, the more I respect her work.
Oh, the school year begins. Hmm. It may be time to take some of the new kids on a tour and leave something behind, like the Great and Terrible Shrine; one last year of crazy fun shite before I depart…
